Fisheries Minister Joanne Thompson is in Spain this week to represent Canada, and Newfoundland and Labrador at the largest seafood expo in the world.
The Global Seafood Expo is being held this week in Barcelona.
Thompson says “the world wants Canadian Seafood,” which is something she heard at the Boston show last month.
She says Canada’s presence at the event “solidifies” how important it is for the country to get their product into these international markets.
Thompson says the expectation over the next few days is to meet with as many people as she can.
She says it is about connecting with buyers and countries they know are interested in the Canadian product and building those relationships.
