A man and a woman in St. John’s are facing sexual assault related charges against a minor.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was called last Thursday, and a number of search warrants were executed – including one at a home in the centre city area.
On Saturday, a 45-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were arrested and charged, and were held to appear in court.
The names of the accused are the subject of a publication ban to protect the identity of the victim.
The man is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, householder permitting sexual activity, making child pornography, incest, and beastiality.
The woman is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, householder permitting sexual activity, making child pornography, incest, invitation to sexual touching, and exposing genital organs.
The RNC says all survivors of sexual violence are encouraged to reach out for help from a trusted resource as soon as it is safe to do so.
“Members of the CASA Unit are available to speak with anyone that has information or questions. With a trauma-informed focus, officers educate and inform survivors of their legal and investigative options while also directing them to appropriate resources based on their individual situation or needs. ”
