Police in Newfoundland and Labrador are encouraging kids who take up a game called the “Senior Assassin” where they try to take each other out with water guns, to be mindful of the circumstances and not to cause public angst.
It’s popular among kids in their graduating year from high school but the RNC says it’s important not to create a police response whereby somebody contacts them about an incident involving a firearm.
Cst. Steph Myers says kids should be using brightly coloured water or nerf-style guns that do not resemble real ones.
It is intended to be a harmless activity as students target other students, but Cst. Myers encourages adults to speak to their children about safe choices.
“It’s important to have those conversations and make sure that toys are identifiable as toys. Go with them to purchase that toy,” she says.
