The Serious Incident Response Team is investigating after an RCMP officer discharged their gun during a police operation on the Salmonier Line yesterday afternoon.
It happened after an armed robbery in Dunville, Placentia yesterday. RCMP located the suspects and their vehicle on the Salmonier Line that afternoon.
Police say an officer fired their weapon, but there were no injuries. Three people were taken into custody.
The confrontation caused a significant backlog of traffic during the late afternoon commute.
The RCMP is unable to provide any additional information as SIRT-NL conducts its review.
