Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador is hearing from more and more members with concerns about the use of e-bikes and e-scooters and the need for proper regulations surrounding their use.

MNL President Amy Coady says the machines are presenting challenges for municipalities, and a growing number of mayors and councils are calling for legislation governing their use.

“They’re fairly new to the market, new to our communities. They’re great devices for getting you around your community,” but she says, safety needs to be first and foremost. Coady says municipalities need regulations in order to enforce them.
