A new mural commemorating the outpouring of kindness shown by residents of Gander and surrounding area in the days following the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001 was officially unveiled at Gander International yesterday.
The mosaic shows a pair of hands coming together to form a heart, and is made from hundreds of tiles painted by more than 600 local residents and businesses.
This Friday marks 25 years since Newfoundland and Labrador took in thousands of stranded airline passengers after North American airspace was shut down in the wake of the terrorist attacks on the United States.
