A joint RNC-RCMP crackdown on bad driving this week has resulted in nearly 80 traffic tickets, including ten for excessive speeding.
Police were stopping drivers in the area of Butter Pot Park on Tuesday, mostly for speeding. The ten drivers who were found to be more than 51 km over the posted speed limit were each given a $520 ticket, lost their driver’s license and had their vehicle seized and impounded. The speeds of those drivers ranged between 151 km and 171 km.
One person stopped for speeding had no insurance and was given a $2600 ticket. The vehicle was impounded.
In addition to the fines, the drivers are also responsible for towing and impoundment fees.
