There is one new travel-related case of COVID-19 in the province today.
The woman, who is in the 20-39 age bracket, and resides in the Eastern Health region was symptomatic while returning to the province from Southeast Asia. According to the Department of Health, she did self-isolate upon her return.
As a result, health officials are asking people who travelled on Air Canada flight AC8006 departing Toronto for St. John’s on Thursday, July 16, to monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and call 811 for testing.
She becomes the third active case in the province with the other two in central Newfoundland. Contact tracing is underway, and anyone who is a close contact is being advised to quarantine.
The total number of cases now stands at 265.
