The whales are plentiful in the waters off the coast of this province, and they’re not shy, but if you want them to come right to your boat, two women from Champney’s West suggest playing them a song.
Bev Freeman and Wanda Freeman Pippy were in their boat for hours Friday morning, playing Newfoundland music and watching the whales breach.
In a video posted to Facebook, the pair caught several whales breeching to the sounds of the guitar and Bev’s voice.
The whales were swimming next to the boat, and the louder Bev sang, the more playful they became.
Wanda describes the sight as “unreal.”
