A man from Makkovik has been charged after a tense situation in which police say they were threatened with a large knife.
RCMP entered a confined space in a home in the Labrador community Wednesday evening. They say 34-year-old Thomas Evans-Dyson pointed the knife and threatened to kill them.
Officers began verbal negotiations while one officer drew a service pistol and the other a taser. RCMP say they were able to de-escalate the situation by using tools of their training.
Evans-Dyson dropped the knife and was taken into custody.
He has been charged with, among other things, assault with a weapon, assaulting a police officer, and uttering threats.
He was released on a number of conditions and is scheduled to be back in court on October 13.
