Rugby is back – at least in some capacity.
Communications Director for Swilers Rugby, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Rugby Union, Liam Warren, says in consultation with public health and Rugby Canada, they are getting things back on the go this week.
Warren says the club has worked on a return to play plan and he explains that the application process for other clubs is ongoing.
Although he is confident the game can be played in safe matter, there are restrictions in place such as a one-way set-up in the facility, session time limits and no inter club games. He says one of the things that will be a huge adjustment for players is the lack of scrums.
Our facility is now a one way loop with Drop off and Screening area next to changerooms and Exit/ Pick up location in parking lot next to Benvon's room.
A temperature check will be completed at the entry point and hand Sanitizers will be available at both Entry and Exit Points. pic.twitter.com/nVCNxC1KAc

Conditioning and fitness are a top priority, says Warren, especially because they can be done with social distancing in mind. For the fall, Warren hopes to have a flag rugby league set up to make the distancing even easier.
Warren says registration numbers are pretty on par with years previous.
He says Rugby Canada has a working group that is implementing laws that will be followed by groups across the country.
