A 20-year-old man is facing a number of charges after fleeing from police last night.

At around 11 p.m., RNC spotted a pickup truck with a flat tire driving down Topsail Road in the Mount Pearl area. They tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued on.

Around the same time, police were also receiving reports of a hit and run on Topsail involving a similar vehicle.

Police followed the vehicle a short distance to a home where the driver was arrested.

The 20-year-old was charged with failing the breathalyzer, impaired driving, flight from police and hit and run.

He was released but his vehicle was impounded.
