Over 300 healthcare workers have been vaccinated for COVID-19 since the first shipment of Pfizer’s vaccine arrived in the province earlier this week.
Health Minister Dr. John Haggie says only a few vials were administered earlier this week, but the effort ramped up on Thursday and Friday
He estimates around 160 workers were given the shot each day.
He says more health care workers will be vaccinated through the weekend.
The number of active COVID cases in Newfoundland and Labrador continues to rise.
There are now 27 active cases in the province with five new cases confirmed on Friday. Three are in the Western Health region and two in Eastern Health. Four cases are travel-related while one is still under investigation.
