The Archdiocese says they will cooperate fully with the investigation by the RCMP into three Criminal Code charges made against retired Reverend, Peter Power.
79-year-old Peter Power of Branch has been charged with invitation to sexual touching, sexual assault, and committing an indecent act.
In a release, the diocese says it would be inappropriate for them to comment on the specifics of the case but they say they must be clear in stating that any form of misconduct by personnel of the Catholic Church is unacceptable.
RCMP say they received a complaint on March 8, the alleged incident is said to have occurred at a home in Branch a few days prior, involving two teenagers.
Power will answer to the charges in court in Harbour Grace on September 9.
Anyone with information on that investigation is asked to contact Placentia RCMP at 709-227-2000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
