The RCMP have released more details on a three-vehicle collision that left three people dead near Appleton Saturday night.
Police, the Gander Fire Department and emergency medical services responded at around 8:20.
An SUV travelling west on the Trans Canada Highway collided head-on with a car travelling east. The two occupants of the car, a 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, both from Gander, died at the scene.
The lone occupant of the SUV was a 51-year-old woman from Lewisporte. She was transported to hospital and later died from her injuries.
Police say alcohol is not suspected to have played a role and the investigation continues.
