Innu Elder Bart Jack Sr. has passed away, prompting condolences from Innu and other Aboriginal groups.
Nunatsiavut President Johannes Lampe called Jack a “true statesman” who was not afraid to stand up for what he believed in, and someone who fought to protect and advance Innu rights.
Lampe calls the elder’s passing a huge loss and recalls his passion for his culture, language and identity.
