The chair of St. John’s Sports and Entertainment disputes a story in The Telegram that they sat on a consultant’s report on Mile One for nine months, and altered the document to suit their position.
The story created a firestorm with many again calling on city council to unload the money-losing facility.
Dean MacDonald, the owner of Deacon Sports and the Newfoundland Growlers, wants to buy the downtown facility and says he would invest millions into it.
The city has struck a sub-committee to study the pros and cons associated with privatization.
Sports & Entertainment chair Jamie Korab told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly that they corrected some factual information in the report but the recommendations did not change.
He says the interim report in January 2019, the draft report in March, and the final report in November of that year are all on the city’s website for all to see, unredacted.
