Approximately 63 per cent of the 13,575 doses of COVID vaccine delivered to the province has been administered, with 1737 of the 8549 doses administered thus far being second doses.
That update was provided yesterday by the Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald.
The remainder of the doses are being administered to previously identified phase one priority groups.
Fitzgerald says there will be a delay in the delivery of the Pfizer vaccine in the next few weeks.
It’s due to renovations at Pfizer’s European manufacturing facility which will help to expand vaccine production.
The delay will involve eight trays — or approximately 7800 doses — of the vaccine. It will not reduce the overall amount of vaccine to be delivered to Newfoundland and Labrador says Fitzgerald; it will simply mean we will be getting it later.
The schedule for the delivery of the Moderna vaccine will not be affected.
