A local couple is urging both current and former Eastern Health employees to be cautious after they discovered that someone tried to gain access to their bank account over the weekend.
Dwayne Trickett is a former Eastern Health employee, while his wife currently works for the health authority. Her information was compromised during the Cyber attack that crippled the healthcare system.
Over the weekend he discovered that their bank account had been frozen after someone called and tried to gain access by pretending to be his wife.
He says the bank uses voice recognition, and when the person who called didn’t match the voice associated with the account, it was locked.
Trickett is cautioning anyone affected by the cyber attack to beware of similar instances.
Their account wasn’t accessed. He’s grateful for what the bank did for him, noting that the money is still there and it’s still his.
The couple now has credit monitoring in place, and will now go to their bank in person to make any changes to their account.
