A Canada Day block party is planned for the capital city’s west end.
Residents of Cornwall Crescent are hosting a neighbourhood party from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Canada Day. That means the crescent will be closed off to traffic, with barricades up and volunteers at either end.
Councillor Jamie Korab pointed out that the applicants had little time to prepare for the block party, and council is making it work.
Korab says that the applicant only submitted their proposal last week, and he thanked staff and colleagues for turning it around and giving them time to plan.
Meanwhile, the Royal Canadian Legion is hosting a Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on July 1. The parade starts at 9:30 a.m. on Queens Road, heading south on Church Hill, east on Duckworth Street, south on Cochrane Street and moving west on Water Street.
