If you were planning to drive the Outer Ring Road tomorrow, you will have to find another route to your destination.
The four-lane highway from Kenmount Road all the way to the end of it, at Logy Bay Road, will be closed from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. for its annual spring cleanup.
That includes the usual and unfortunate amount of litter, as well as larger items destined for the dump that fly off some vehicles before they get there.
Traffic control, digital signs and crews will be stationed at various on and off ramps to guide drivers.
Diverted eastbound traffic can take the off ramp to Kenmount Road at Donovan’s Overpass, while westbound traffic can access the Trans Canada Highway through the on-ramp at Donovan’s.
Barricades will be in place at all access points, including:
Logy Bay Road
Torbay Road
Aberdeen Avenue
Portugal Cove Road
Allandale Road
Team Gushue Highway
Thorburn Road
Topsail Road
The amount of garbage continues to pile up along the Outer Ring, despite fines that range from $100 to $600.
Updates on the road closure and reopening will be available at: nl511.ca and on the 511 app.
