Transportation Minister Barry Petten has called a news conference for this afternoon to provide an update on what he calls “a highway infrastructure project.”
A hint as to the nature of the update might be revealed in the fact that NAPE President Jerry Earle will be joining the minister this afternoon at 1:00.
The previous government announced plans to extend the divided highway beyond Whitbourne and on a section of the Trans Canada near Grand Falls-Windsor through a P3 model – something that immediately caught the ire of the province’s largest public sector union.
