Health Minister Lela Evans says she is aware of concerns raised by some physicians indicating they’re still owed some of the bonuses promised tto them after signing on to a recruitment incentive program.
Dr. Neil Patterson, who set up practice in Stephenville says because he’s also required to work shifts at the local ER and follow up with patients in hospital, he’s no longer eligible for the bonuses that led to him to sign-on for two years’ service.
Minister Evans is aware that some physicians are facing issues, and government is looking at the situation.
“We’re investigating those now” says Evans, “we have to make sure that we’re treating our doctors fairly, we have to make sure we’re living up to our recruitment promises, but at the end of the day too, we have to make sure that what’s actually claimed is accurate.”
