Police have charged a Deer Lake man after an assault and a brief pursuit which resulted in damage to two RCMP vehicles.

Alan Renouf is currently in custody after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop.

No injuries were reported, however Renouf is facing several charges under the Criminal Code including flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, mischief and assault with a weapon.

RCMP say Renouf is facing three more Highway Traffic Act violations, but he could face even more as the investigation continues.
