A west coast man has been charged with two counts of murder in connection with a double-homicide on Aldershot Street in St. John’s almost two weeks ago.
Forty-one-year-old Matthew Anthony Delaney was arrested just before 7 p.m. Thursday on Water Street West and charged with first and second degree murder in the deaths of two men, aged 38 and 53.
Their bodies were discovered in a home on Aldershot Street in the Rabbittown area of St. John’s on December 1st.
The RNC have confirmed that both men died of injuries consistent with stab wounds.
Delaney made a brief first appearance in provincial court yesterday, where he was read a list of people he must have no contact with.
There’s a publication ban on the identities of those involved with the case.
The Stephenville man is no stranger to the courts on the west coast of the island, with convictions for robberies, assaults and breaches of court orders.
Delaney has been returned to custody pending his next court appearance on December 17th.
