The company which provides a crucial service to parts of Labrador and the island has donated to food banks and pantries throughout the province.

Labrador Marine operates the ferry between the Northern Peninsula and southern Labrador as well as the boat which services communities along the north coast. It also provides the Astron, a swing vessel used at various times of the year in the intra-provincial service on the island.

Captain Austin Daley, the general manager of Labrador Marine, says the company donated almost $18,000 worth of food this year.

A total of 21 food relief outlets will benefit from the donation.
