The Bonavista Highway is open to traffic in both directions following a crash near Bloomfield that effectively blocked road travel across the island.
A tractor trailer crashed into the Southwest Brook Bridge yesterday, causing significant damage to the structure and closing the Trans Canada.
Traffic was being detoured over the Bonavista Highway but even that was closed as a result of the latest mishap.
RCMP say the road has reopened, but the Trans Canada remains closed at Southwest Brook and the detour remains in place.

The province says the Bonavista Highway is not expected to be open again until suppertime.
RCMP are warning drivers of significant delays with no through traffic currently moving between Clarenville and Gander.
