It’s official. This is the snowiest month on record in metro. Not just the snowiest February – the snowiest month, period.
Official snowfall yesterday 6.0 cm at St. John's #YYT puts the total for Feb 1-26 at 178.2 cm, meaning February will go in the books the snowiest calendar month on record for the airport. Previous month with most snow was December 2000 with 173.4 cm.

Rodney Barney, a meteorologist at the Gander Weather Office, tweeted out that the 6 cm that fell yesterday pushed the total to 178.2 cm, breaking the previous record of 173.4 cm in December 2000.
Weather record-keeping began in 1942.
