The mayor and three town councillors in Salmon Cove resigned last night citing an inability to “make positive changes and stand up for” residents.
In a post to the town’s Facebook page, the town references “constant, ongoing issues” that they’ve tried their best to fix, but without resolution or a “clear path forward.”
The town says due to legal and confidential obligations, it cannot share the full details, a situation it calls “frustrating.”
The post indicates that the current town council functions to pay the bills and deal with ongoing issues only, and the ability to make progress has been taken away.
The town is encouraging residents to ask questions and hopes that the actions taken by council will serve as a catalyst to “getting some answers that residents need and deserve.”
